IT support for hospitality and leisure businesses.

Lanmark provides managed IT support for hotels, restaurants, fitness studios, leisure centres and golf operators: protection for booking-platform logins, separate guest and business Wi-Fi, help with the technical groundwork for card payments, and 24x7 security monitoring on Lanmark Total. We do not give legal or regulatory advice.

What is different about IT in hospitality and leisure?

Guests and members only notice technology when it stops, usually in the evening or at weekends when you are busiest.

Bookings and reservations
Property management, booking and reservation systems have to be available whenever a guest or member tries to book or check in. Tell us which you use.
Guest and member Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi that copes with a full house or a busy evening, kept separate from the systems that run the business.
Tills and card payments
Your supplier supports the till software. We look after the network and devices around it, and the technical groundwork for card payments.
Evenings, weekends and peaks
The busy times are rarely 9 to 5. Problems have to be fixed quickly, ideally before guests notice.
Seasonal and part-time staff
Starters and leavers come and go. Each person needs their own login that starts and stops on time.
Guest, member and CCTV data
Booking details, member records, CCTV and door access all hold personal data that has to be protected.

Hotels’ booking-platform logins are being phished

Action Fraud reported 532 cases and £370,000 in losses between June 2023 and September 2024 from fraud in which criminals took over hotels’ Booking.com accounts, probably after phishing hotel staff, then messaged guests for payment or card details (alert of 10 January 2025).

Microsoft tracked a campaign impersonating Booking.com against hospitality organisations from December 2024 to February 2025, and its advice includes multi-factor authentication. Reports in April 2026 described guest booking details exposed through compromised hotel partner accounts, again after phishing of hotel staff.

The money is taken from guests, but your venue is the way in and takes the reputational damage. So the controls that matter are multi-factor authentication on booking-platform logins, a separate login for each person, and staff who recognise fake messages.

Phishing simulation and training

Leisure operators have already been told to rethink staff biometrics

In 2024 the ICO issued enforcement notices to Serco Leisure and seven community leisure trusts, ordering them to stop using facial recognition and fingerprint scanning to record staff attendance and to destroy the data, because less intrusive means such as ID cards and fobs were available and staff had no meaningful opt-out.

If you use biometrics for staff or member access, whether that is lawful for your use is for your own advisers. What we can do is help with the technical side of an alternative, and make sure the data you do hold is protected.

Which IT controls support your obligations?

We do not give legal or regulatory advice. We help you put in place the IT controls that sit underneath your obligations:

  • Individual sign-ins and multi-factor authentication, including on booking platforms.
  • Guest Wi-Fi kept separate from the network that runs the business.
  • Patched systems and protected tills and card terminals, as groundwork for what your acquirer (the bank that processes your card payments) requires.
  • Microsoft 365 backup, so email and files can be restored.
  • Staff phishing training, because fake booking messages are how many attacks start.
  • Monitoring: on Lanmark Total, a security team watches your environment 24x7x365.
Managed detection and response

What does it cost?

The price per user is published, with no hidden fees. Priced per user or per device, whichever is fewer. A hotel with forty staff on shifts and six computers is charged on six.

What do hospitality and leisure businesses ask about IT support?

How do we protect our Booking.com or booking-platform login?

Turn on multi-factor authentication for every login to the extranet and booking tools, give each person their own login, and train staff to spot the fake messages that start these attacks. We can set that up and run the training. Action Fraud has warned that criminals have taken over hotels’ Booking.com accounts after targeted phishing, then messaged guests for payment details.

Can you support our booking, reservation or membership systems?

Tell us which property management, booking, till or membership systems you use. Your supplier supports the software itself. We look after the network, Wi-Fi and devices around it, and can liaise with your suppliers when it is unclear where a fault sits. We talk through how we can help before you commit.

Do you make us PCI compliant?

No. The card brands and your acquirer, the bank that processes your card payments, set what you must prove, and your business stays accountable even when parts of the payment process are handled by others. We help with the technical groundwork: a properly set-up network, patched systems, and a separate sign-in for each person.

Can you look after guest and member Wi-Fi?

Tell us what you have and what you need. We talk through how we can help before you commit.

We use facial recognition or fingerprints for staff or member access. Is that a problem?

It can be. The ICO ordered Serco Leisure and seven community leisure trusts in 2024 to stop using facial recognition and fingerprint scanning for staff attendance, because less intrusive options such as ID cards were available. Whether a particular use is lawful is a question for your own advisers. We can help with the technical side of any alternative.

What about seasonal and part-time staff?

Each person gets their own sign-in with access matched to their role, switched on when they start and off when they leave, so nobody shares a login.

Is there support outside office hours?

The service desk runs Monday to Friday. 24x7 support is available on request.

How quickly can you take over from our current IT provider?

SmoothSwitch starts with a free IT review and a free 30-day trial with Lanmark running alongside your current provider, so the handover is checked against live tickets.
